Who We Are

Craig Chown is the Managing Member of Chown Consulting. We develop creative strategies and solutions to accomplish client goals and objectives. We specialize in community development, environmental mitigation and permitting, governmental relations, public relations and communications, lobbying, environmental consulting, real estate investments, organizational and management consulting, and business development.


Craig worked for the Florida Office of the Auditor General for about 8 years and completed organizational, management structure, performance, and compliance reviews for a variety of state agencies and programs. Examples include but are not limited to the Florida Board of Medicine, Florida Nursing Board, Florida Board of Real Estate, Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board, Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, State Attorneys and Public Defenders, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Child Care Licensing Program, Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Florida Department of Children and Families,
Craig Chown served as a policy and budget advisor to Florida Governor’s Lawton Chiles and Jeb Bush, and was responsible for oversight of several several public safety related agencies with total budgets in excess of $3 billion, Agency Budget Request reviews, legislation, strategic planning, Governor veto reviews and recommendations, and Florida Sheriffs budget appeals process.
Craig also served as the Florida statewide Chief of Administration & General Services in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. In this executive level position, Craig was responsible for statewide management and oversight of a wide variety of administrative functions statewide including but not limited to:purchasing, budget, inventory, contract management, insurance, construction, facility maintenance, vehicle fleet management, emergency management and disaster preparedness, workers compensation performance, and legislative and government affairs.


Since 1996, Craig Chown worked on a variety of government relations, political consulting, public relations and communications, management consulting and community development projects for various public and private sector entities. Examples of projects include community re-development of a 68,000 sq. ft. commercial shopping center; 42 residential homes and several apartment buildings targeted for affordable housing; commercial retail space in Downtown Tallahassee (next ro Florida Capitol area); Florida Sheriffs Association organization, management processes, and data systems; local environmental permitting; local community development planning and permitting; and local land use planning.


Craig Chown has also worked for a number of years on several successful residential and commercial real estate development and investment projects. Craig also successfully managed environmental mitigation and permitting projects in Florida.
