Craig Chown, Indian River Mitigation Partners donated over 150 acres with almost a mile of waterfront along the Indian River Lagoon in Vero Beach to be forever preserved as conservation lands. This property primarily consists of salt marshes which improves water quality and habitat along the Indian River Lagoon. Indian River County awarded transfer of residential development rights that can be used for other properties in the county. This was done to help ensure that the environmental lands would never be developed and instead was placed in perpetual conservation protection. Craig Chown is collaborating with Argus Capital to utilize the transferred development rights to meet local community development needs in the Vero Beach, Florida area. This is a great example of balancing environmental preservation and community development.
